Your privacy is our top priority. EchoCraft processes all audio locally on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your voice recordings or transcriptions to any servers.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 No Voice Data Collection

EchoCraft does not collect, store, or transmit:

  • Voice recordings
  • Transcribed text
  • Audio files
  • Any content you dictate or transcribe

All transcription happens entirely on your device using local AI models. Your voice never leaves your computer.

1.2 Application Usage Data (Optional)

EchoCraft may collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the application, such as:

  • Application crashes and errors (for debugging purposes)
  • Feature usage patterns (which features are used most)
  • Performance metrics (transcription speed, model performance)

This data is completely anonymous and cannot be linked to you or your content. You can opt out of analytics in Settings.

1.3 License Information

If you purchase a license, we collect:

  • Purchase information (processed by Gumroad, our payment processor)
  • License key for activation
  • Email address (for license delivery and support)

This information is used solely for license validation and customer support.

2. How We Use Information

2.1 Local Processing

All voice transcription is performed locally on your device using whisper.cpp. No data is sent to external servers for transcription purposes.

2.2 Optional AI Features

If you choose to use AI Assistant features:

  • You must provide your own API keys from third-party providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure, or Ollama)
  • Your requests are sent directly to the provider you choose
  • EchoCraft does not intercept, store, or have access to these communications
  • You are subject to the privacy policies of the AI provider you choose

Important: EchoCraft does not provide, resell, or charge for AI services. You create accounts directly with third-party providers and are billed by them separately.

2.3 License Validation

License keys are validated locally or through Gumroad's secure API to verify your purchase. No personal information is transmitted during validation.

3. Data Storage

3.1 Local Storage

All data is stored locally on your device:

  • Transcription History: Stored in your local application data directory (up to 1,000 entries)
  • Settings: Stored locally in application preferences
  • AI Models: Downloaded and cached locally in ~/.cache/whisper.cpp/models/
  • Custom Vocabulary: Stored locally in application data

You can delete all local data at any time by uninstalling the application or clearing application data.

3.2 No Cloud Storage

EchoCraft does not use cloud storage. We do not maintain servers that store your data.

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 Payment Processing

License purchases are processed by Gumroad. Please review Gumroad's Privacy Policy for information about how they handle payment data.

4.2 AI Providers (Optional)

If you use AI Assistant features, you interact directly with:

4.3 Model Downloads

AI models are downloaded from HuggingFace. Please review HuggingFace's Privacy Policy.

5. Permissions

5.1 Microphone Access

EchoCraft requires microphone access to record your voice for transcription. Audio is processed in real-time and never stored unless you explicitly save a transcription.

5.2 Accessibility Permissions

On macOS, EchoCraft requires accessibility permissions to type transcribed text into active text fields. This permission is used solely for text insertion and is not used to read or monitor your screen content.

5.3 Network Access

EchoCraft requires internet access for:

  • Downloading AI models (on-demand)
  • License validation (if applicable)
  • Optional AI Assistant features (if enabled)
  • Application updates (if enabled)

You can use EchoCraft offline after downloading models, except for AI Assistant features that require API access.

6. Children's Privacy

EchoCraft is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.

7. Data Security

Since all processing happens locally on your device:

  • Your data never leaves your computer
  • No network transmission of sensitive data
  • No risk of data breaches from our servers (we don't have any)
  • You maintain complete control over your data

We recommend keeping your device secure with up-to-date operating system security patches.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: View all data stored locally in the application
  • Delete: Delete transcription history and application data at any time
  • Opt Out: Disable optional analytics in Settings
  • Control: Choose which models to download and use
  • Uninstall: Remove the application and all associated data

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

  • Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
  • Updating the "Last Updated" date
  • Including a notice in application updates (for significant changes)

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
